Château La Coste – where art meets wine in Provence

One sunny day in Spring we had a half day to spend before heading to the airport and saying “Good bye” to Provence. Since we were based in Aix-en-Provence and have done quite a lot of sightseeing in the area all the destinations we haven’t seen yet were meant to be explored on a day tour, not half day.

I heard that somewhere in the are there was a winery which also had some modern art objects on display. Long story short we found ourselves on the way to Chateau La Coste and had a relaxed and beautiful half day. At the end we wished we could stay longer.

“Château La Coste is a vineyard where Wine, Art & Architecture live in harmony” – these are not my words. I got them from the web page, but this is what this place is all about.

First we had lunch at Tadao Ando restaurant and afterwards went on a Arts & Architecture walk along the premises. The walk takes about 2 hours and goes along wine fields and a lovely forest spiced with brilliant works by famous artists like AI WEIWEI and Frank O. Gehry. There are also special tours which will give you in depth information, but we were too late to book one.

For the whole program and opportunities offered check the official web page of Château La Coste

Oh, and did I mention there is a wine shop?!
